The Role

The Sr Lead Release Train Engineer (RTE) is a member of the Program Level (ART), responsible for facilitating and maturing Program/ART level processes and execution, driving resolution to organization impediments, manages and mitigates risk, and drives continuous improvement within the ART and across ARTs within the Value Stream. Understands the Features within their ART and facilitates the orchestration for cross ART stream Feature dependency management. Has a deeper understanding of the relationships and impacts of critical stakeholder impacted by the Features within their ART and fosters conversations to drive the highest value realization. Is able to effectively manage impediments and risks without supervision.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Facilitates PI and Readiness - Aggregate Team PI Objectives into Program PI Objectives. Verifies and mitigates dependency risks identified on the Program Board. Facilitate Agile Release Train (ART) Sync. Escalates, tracks impediments and facilitates impediment resolution.

  • Ensure strategy and execution alignment - Assigned to work with layer 2 stakeholders. Work with Product Management, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment. Provides transparency around historical Feature throughput to ensure a reasonable amount of work is brought to PI Planning. Provides support and coaching for Product Manager and System Architect to ensure alignment and quality of Feature decomposition. Understand and operate within Agile Release Train budget; proactively identify and communicate budgetary risks and issues and provide suggestions to mitigate. Proactively and constantly assess the trains resourcing to identify skill and resource gaps and provide recommendations.

  • Drive continuous improvement - Inspires a Agile Servant Leader Mindset and embodies SAFe principles. Drives relentless continuous improvement opportunities and the maturation of Agile adoption at scale. Contributes to Communities of Practice. Provides coaching support for roles within their ART and other RTEs. Demonstrates and encourages collaboration for the members of the assigned value stream.

  • Value Stream Complexity - Is able to drive the maturation of SAFe principles and concepts to manage and mature the aligned Features. Is responsible for a set of Features that align to their Value Stream.

  • Superior problem solving skills.

  • All other duties as assigned.

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 10+ years of experience or Master’s Degree with 8+ years experience

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
