We provide friendly customer service and education to employers and accountants about the requirements for Unemployment Insurance payroll reports. If so, then you may be interested in the /Tax Technician /position in the /Unemployment Insurance Division/. As a /Tax Technician /you will: * Process amended payroll reports * Prepare employer refunds. * Answer employer phone calls about reporting wages and amending reports. * Assist the Monetary Unit in claims processes as needed. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: If you are the right person for this opportunity, you will have the following knowledge, skills or abilities: Knowledge of: * Payroll tax laws relating to unemployment insurance tax * Payroll accounting requirements and accounting principles and procedures. Skills: * Excellent telephone customer service and interpersonal skills. * Resolving customer questions and complaints with courtesy and respect. * Planning and prioritizing your work and manage multiple deadlines. Ability to: * Analyze and interpret accounting data. * Use computer software, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. * Communicate effectively verbally and in writing. PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: This position involves sitting for long periods of time. Much of the time is spent responding to phone calls, keyboarding and using a computer monitor. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Three years of "directly related" qualifying experience such as customer service, payroll tax, payroll and/or related field. /Preferred:/ * Associate degree in Accounting or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered on a case-by-case basis.
