Job Description Summary
The Vice President, Agile Practices is focused on growing and sustaining consistent and effective Agile principles and practices across Technology and Operations and creating a community of Agile practice across the enterprise in partnership with the CIO's and business stakeholders.
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Determine/define outcomes for the Agile program and drive outcomes across Travelers Agile teams including continuously measuring execution and productivity improvements.
Provide expert-level Agile consultation and coaching to enable the delivery of optimal outcomes, defining minimum critical standards for Agile teams within the context of our “common as possible, unique as necessary” approach.
Infuse modern product management principles, practices and discipline into the organization to improve the customer outcomes that achieve business results.
Provide data-driven insights and foster continuous improvement along with alignment to Agile principles.
Drive a performance-based culture through accountability, coaching and mentoring of both direct reports and matrixed associates, and providing regular feedback to foster leadership, strategic thinking and business acumen.
Facilitates collaboration between engineering teams and product ownership.
Provide strong strategic leadership, direction, and execution focus to Technology and Operations Agile Practices and Technology Agile Coaching team.
Lead the continuous improvement of an Agile coaching community of practice within and across the lines of business/segments including clarifying the Agile delivery practices roles and standards of excellence, helping coaches measure their effectiveness and providing a structuring learning environment (e.g. developmental resources, training, tools, mentoring).
Manage Agile coaching capacity requirements, playing a lead role in selecting Agile coaching talent for the technology organizations and supporting business areas across the enterprise as needed.
Accelerate successful Agile adoption across the enterprise by providing a change management framework and assets for use with business segments building confidence during implementation and ongoing.
In partnership with senior leadership, identify and support the usage of common Agile delivery tools and a common governance framework.
6 years of Agile delivery experience required.
8 years of business and/or technology related experience required.
5 years of people leadership/management experience required.
Education, Work Experience, & Knowledge
Expert level knowledge of Agile Practices with deep Agile credentials who models the principles in the Agile manifesto.
8 years of senior level leadership experience in an Agile technology environment, preferably in financial services.

Highly organized with a proactive action orientation.
Proven track record of strategic goal accomplishment on large initiatives
Deep expertise and experience in transforming to an Agile environment including change management, methodologies, measures and Agile coaching practices.
Demonstrated ability to understand and incorporate business needs into Agile strategies and facilitate prioritization and decision making among stakeholders.
Exceptional oral communication and writing skills, with ability to synthesize complex concepts and translate into "people-friendly" language.
Able to inspire and promote a vision. Supports management decisions and proactively acts as a change champion. Able to welcome innovative ideas and is open to other views employing a continuous improvement mindset.
Strong ability to assess potential financial impacts of decisions across the enterprise; makes recommendations and acts when appropriate.
Excellent relationship building, influence, negotiation and collaboration abilities.
