Work schedule is full time (40 hours / week) and may involve weekend and evening work. Work location is remote; 25 miles north of Jordan, MT at Hell Creek State Park on Fort Peck Lake. Employees scheduled at least half-time for more than 6 months consecutively are also provided paid health, dental and life insurance. Physical demands include some exertion, lifting, digging and pounding. Works in adverse outdoor conditions including temperature extremes, rain and dust. Duties: The Maintenance Worker 2 works closely with a diverse team to provide safe and enjoyable recreational opportunities for the public. They are responsible for coordinating and inspecting projects and ground maintenance tasks. They maintain and repair park buildings, facilities and grounds, perform weed control, water and septic system maintenance and light electrical / plumbing work. Manages equipment maintenance in a proactive sustainable manner. Skills: Communication, general maintenance and construction skills. Skills must be applied in state park site locations including cultural areas. Basic computer skills are helpful. Communicates clearly and professionally. Sets priorities considerate of limited resources, public safety and health, management concerns and skill levels. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships. Self-motivated, dependable, reliable and adaptable to a wide variety of situations and able to work independently. Handles multiple tasks effectively and possesses good organization and time management skills. Demonstrates good problem-solving skills. Knowledge: Working knowledge of methods and practices of general maintenance and construction work as related to buildings, facilities and grounds, use and care of tools, and operation of a variety of light construction equipment. Additional consideration will be given to applicants who demonstrate knowledge and ability to perform carpentry, woodworking, plumbing, welding, electrical, masonry work, engine repair and maintenance. Must currently possess or be able to attain within 6 months of hire and maintain in effect the following: * Driver License * Basic First Aid/CPR certification Education/Experience: The knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the duties of this position are typically acquired through a two-year degree/training in maintenance or a related field. Five years of general facilities maintenance, construction and repair work is preferred.
