Kalispell Regional Healthcare After School/Summer Camp Staff - S.P.A.R.K. - Youth & Recreation Program in Kalispell, Montana

Overview

After School and Summer Camp Staff assists with the Sports, Physical Activities and Recreation for Kids (S.P.A.R.K) program. Assists in preparing and implementing appropriate age specific activities for children 6-12 years of age. Activities include, but may not be limited to; art projects, fitness fun, sports skills and a variety of cooperative games. This position is responsible for the daily checking in/ out of each child in addition to supervising their participation in the program.

Responsibilities

  1. *Assists with implementation and monitoring of activities and programs for participants.

  2. *Consistently provides assistance and constructive feedback to Leadership.

  3. *Develops new games and activities that can be incorporated into daily lesson plans.

  4. *Monitors activity sessions as assigned following lesson plan and making adjustments to the plan as required.

  5. *Recognizes when adjustments are required and creatively adapts activities to maintain participant’s enthusiasm.

  6. *Interacts with children during activities. Participates in games as required and when opportunity arises.

  7. *Works closely with the S.P.A.R.K. Coordinator and Logan Health Medical Fitness Center staff ensure the safety of all children participating.

  8. *Follows formal check-in/ checkout system for all participants according to S.P.A.R.K. and Logan Health Medical Fitness Center guidelines.

  9. *Treats all participants with honesty and respect while maintaining established standards for control. Shows no partiality or favoritism toward any one or group of participants.

  10. *Interacts professionally with participants by utilizing children’s names and instills confidence regarding their ability to participate.

  11. *Keeps accurate count of program participants, activity, success/failure, discipline challenges, special participant needs, etc.

  12. *Creates an environment to grow holistically (socially, emotionally, physically, and environmentally).

Qualifications

  1. Current HS AED Certification required.

  2. Minimum one (1) years experience working with children and youth preferred.

  3. Possess ability to communicate orally to individuals and small groups.

  4. Demonstrated ability to use good judgment, apply a high degree of integrity and maintain confidentiality at all times.

  5. Possess ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with children, parents and co-workers.

  6. Must possess basic computer skills.
