Kalispell Regional Healthcare Diagnostic Imaging Technologist - Family Health Care in Kalispell, Montana

Overview

Assist the physicians/providers with the examination and treatment of patients and perform routine tasks required to ensure the Clinic runs smoothly; participate in the planning and evaluation of patient care. Works independently to perform a variety of procedures utilizing various radiographic equipment such as digital x-ray. Services pediatric, adult and geriatric populations. Provides for physical and psychological needs of patient during examination.

Responsibilities

  1. *Performs and documents a physical, psychosocial and spiritual assessment of assigned patients using all available sources of information and incorporating the patient’s perception of illness/condition. Assists provider with examinations and procedures as directed in accordance with established nursing standards.

  2. *Demonstrates an ability to respond to a changing workload in a positive and professional manner. Responds to changing workloads and patient conditions by: remaining calm, making objective assessments, prioritizing, and asking for assistance when appropriate.

  3. *Maintains understanding of and follows current exam protocols-working with the radiology department to ensure the most up to date protocols are being followed.

  4. *Transcribes, and implements physician orders and treatments both verbal and written accurately and efficiently as noted by chart reviews and observation. Consistently problem solving issues affecting patient care.

    • Performs diagnostic imaging procedures-digital imaging along with CT scanning. Maintains understanding of and follows current exam protocols-working with the radiology department to ensure the most up to date protocols are being followed.
  5. *Maintains accountability to technologist competency/quality control standard- reviews QA report and takes appropriate action as indicated. Ensures that limited techs perform their QA as requested.

  6. *Assists with maintaining/coordinates repairs and service as needed or directed-monitor for equipment malfunction, alert Manager and contact sources for repair.

  7. *Clinical Staff of physician clinics have clerical responsibilities that include but are not limited to the following:

  8. Greets patients and escorts them to the exam/procedure rooms.

  9. Triages patient telephone calls and provides education.

  10. Makes appointments for patients with specialists; schedules hospital admissions, outside ancillary tests and procedures as directed.

  11. Participates/coordinates patient care/flow-includes rooming patients, gathering supplies, keeping rooms stocked per provider request, gathering requested medical records and assisting providers to expedite the patient experience and visit.

  12. Continuous monitoring of the schedule for imaging orders.

  13. Assists clerical staff in all clinically/medically related phone calls and/or EMR related provider and/or patient requests.

  14. Assist in pulling charts, filing, telephone answering, and other duties needed to provide better customer service throughout the clinic.

Qualifications

  1. Graduate of accredited school of Radiological Technology.

  2. ARRT Certification in Radiology required; valid Montana State license in Radiological Technology required.

  3. First Aid and HS AED CPR certificates required.

  4. Knowledge to give and evaluate patient care.

  5. Knowledge of medical office procedures and medical terminology. Knowledge of equipment, supplies, and instruments used in a medical office.

  6. Simple routine clinical laboratory methods, universal blood and body fluid precautions; OSHA rules and regulations, established protocol for storing poisons, narcotics, acids, caustics, and flammable items; restrictions imposed by various managed care carriers, various forms inherent to profession; patient confidentiality regulations.

  7. Proficient use of computer software and hardware.

  8. Must remain calm and professional when dealing one-on-one with patients in a clinical setting. Good communication skills, both verbal and written, required.
