CHS has an opportunity in our Country Operations Division. We are looking for an individual to join our Operations team working as a Laborer /Driver . You will assist patrons in a professional manner and promote a positive image of the coop. You must have the ability to adapt, think and make decisions quickly; have a pleasant attitude, be helpful, and customer focused.

You must be able to work extended hours during the months of our busy season, spring summer and fall.

You will:

  • Have and maintain a Class A CDL with Hazardous Materials endorsement

  • Pick up and deliver product to customers in a safe, timely, and professional manner, ensuring the truck is operated in a safe manner at all times.

  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete maintenance report on any needed repairs.

  • Make out daily trip sheet and other paper work as required.

  • Maintain logs with each shipment, completing daily invoices and reports.

  • Follow all guidelines and regulations for hauling, grain, feed, seed, fertilizer, Petroleum, Propane, other bulk liquid products.

  • Report all accidents, traffic violations, and damage to vehicles.

  • Maintain cleanliness of your truck both inside and out. Sweep trailers out after each use.

  • Load and/or unload your loads.

  • Ensure on time loading and unloading and communicate with vendors if delays occur.

  • Work within several different departments and locations as needed

  • Work as needed with and under the direction of several different department supervisors at different times

  • Be willing to travel locally (within 100 miles) to different business locations with occasional overnight stay(s) required

  • Have good communication skills

  • Work with patrons in a courteous and professional manner.

  • Customer Service & Sales: Provide excellent customer service and assist customers with buying propane, fertilizer, chemicals and seed.

  • Load and Unload grain and agronomy customers in a timely manner as they come into the business

  • Perform warehouse work to include: cleaning, organizing and paperwork

  • Perform housekeeping inside and outside of all facilities.

  • Complete all safety reports and required record keeping.

  • Follow all company policies and procedures.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.

Training Provided:

  • Safe Lifting

  • Product knowledge

  • Operation of tools or other hand equipment

  • Other training as identified

Basic Qualifications: (required)

  • Must meet minimum age requirement

  • Valid Class A CDL with Hazmat/Tanker endorsement

  • 2 years or 200,000 miles of verifiable tractor trailer experience

  • Ability to pass DOT physical and drug test

  • Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 100 lbs.

  • Ability to stand, sit, bend, lift, twist and climb

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English

  • Ability to work extended hours, including weekends, to meet business demands

  • Ability to adapt to the needs of different department duties and change

  • Be on time for work as scheduled

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Computer literate

  • Self starter / able to work unsupervised

  • Ability to work in dust and adverse weather conditions and temperatures

  • Preferred Qualifications: (desired)

  • Agriculture background

  • Bulk liquid experience

  • Customer service experience

  • Fork Lift experience

  • General mechanical knowledge
