Kalispell Regional Healthcare LPN MD Practice - Rocky Mountain Heart and Lung in Kalispell, Montana
Assists the physicians/providers with the examination and treatment of patients and performs routine tasks required to ensure that Rocky Mountain Heart and Lung runs smoothly. This position participates in the planning and evaluation of patient care.
*Performs general nursing duties, specialty procedures. Develops, implements and revises individualized, goal directed nursing care to patients through the use of the nursing process as appropriate for LPN’s in the clinic setting.
*Triages and returns patient phone calls in a timely, pleasant and professional manner.
*Coordinates physician clinic and hospital scheduling in an accurate manner.
*Performs and documents physical, psychosocial and spiritual assessments of assigned patients using all available sources of information and incorporating the patient’s perception of illness/condition.
*Assists provider with examinations and procedures as directed in accordance with established nursing standards. Prepares and administers specified medications and injections as prescribed by the provider.
*Demonstrates an ability to respond to a changing workload in a positive and professional manner. Responds to changing workloads and patient conditions by remaining calm, making objective assessments, prioritizing and asking for assistance when appropriate.
*Transcribes and implements physician orders and treatments both verbal and written accurately and efficiently as noted by chart reviews and observation. Consistently problem solves issues affecting patient care.
*Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of infection control procedures; strictly adheres to policies and procedures; washes hands before and after each patient encounter. Thoroughly cleans exam rooms, counter and table tops per clinic policy. Collects packages and accurately labels all specimens immediately upon receipt and forwards to designated lab(s) according to established protocols.
*Clinical Staff of Physician clinics have clerical responsibilities that include but are not limited to thefollowing:
Greets patients and escorts them to the exam/procedure rooms.
Triages patient telephone calls and provides education.
Makes appointments for patients with specialists, schedules hospital admissions, outside ancillary tests and procedures as directed.
Assists clerical staff in all clinically/medically related phone calls.
Retrieves prescription calls off voice mail as scheduled by supervisor and responds according to office protocol.
Records services rendered on fee tickets and checks for accuracy.
Assists in chart prep, filing, telephone answering, and other duties needed to provide better customer service.
Licensure as required by guidelines.
Minimum of two (2) years experience in similar position with a medical setting (i.e. physician office, clinic, or hospital). Cardiology experience preferred.
Knowledge of professional nursing theory to give and evaluate patient care; knowledge of basic medical office procedure and medical terminology.
Healthcare Provider CPR required.
Knowledge of equipment, supplies and instruments used in a medical office.
Simple routine clinical laboratory methods, universal blood and body fluid precautions; OSHA rules and regulations, established protocol for storing poisons, narcotics, acids, caustics, and flammable items; restrictions imposed by various managed care carriers, various forms inherent to profession; patient confidentiality regulations.
