LC Staffing Part Time Class A CDL Driver in Kalispell, Montana

Do you have your Class A CDL, but want to be home every night? Are you willing and able to cross back and forth to Canada? LC Staffing is direct hiring a Part-Time Chip Truck Driver for a local trucking company.

Job Qualifications:

High school graduate or equivalent preferred, with the ability to interpret and apply verbal and/or written instructions in English. Must have a CDL Class A, Type I, with air brakes, doubles and triples endorsements. Two years winter driving experience preferred. Must be insurable with a clean driving record. Must be able to hold/apply for a Passport, and travel to Canada (no DUI, felony, or back child support) Job Summary: The Chip Truck Driver - Local Haul drives various trucks and transmission types to pick up and deliver sawdust, wood shavings, chips and bark. The local haul driver makes deliveries within the Flathead Valley area.

Essential Job Functions

Performs pre-trip inspection on tractor and trailer as required by the D.O.T. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (includes opening hood to inspect fluid levels, hoses, belts, etc.) Checks off items on Driver’s Vehicle Inspection Report. Drives truck to pick up and deliver load. Drives under bins at the sawmill to load trailers. Loads trailers with sawdust, shavings, chips and bark at the sawmill by operating levers and/or pull chains and buttons to dump loads from the bin into the trailer. Dumps load by driving or backing onto a platform and operating levers to raise platform to dump the load from the trailer. Sweeps remaining load out of trailer and pup. Although very infrequently. May shovel frozen wood fiber from the trailer and pup when necessary, to loosen frozen material from surfaces. Rolls and unrolls tarp over the load. Unhitches and hooks up trailers. Ranges between 7 to 10 loads per day to unhitch trailers and pull pin releases. Completes all logs and required paperwork. May shovel load if filled too full. Chains up tires on bad roads as required. May perform emergency repair on the road (lights, belts, hoses). May assist mechanics with repairs in shop. May perform other duties as needed. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

Demonstrates good performance, work efficiency, safety and attendance. Demonstrates the ability to work and communicate well with Supervisor, other employees and customers. Demonstrates the ability to be a self-starter. Works well under stressful situations. Demonstrates the ability to operate truck safely and effectively to minimize repair and maintenance. Demonstrates the ability to work independently, without direct supervision. PHYSICAL DEMAND CLASSIFICATION:

A pulling force of up to 120 pounds is required to manually pull the trailer hitch pin to release the trailers from the truck. This is the only job requirement that places this position in the Very Heavy Duty category, otherwise the majority of the job duties are Medium Duty. Medium Duty requires lifting 20-50 pounds on an occasional basis, 10-25 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 10 pounds continuously.
