Kalispell Regional Healthcare RN Staff Development Educator - Acute Care in Kalispell, Montana

Overview

RN Staff Development Educator – Acute Care will primarily focus on supporting acute care staff education programs for assigned inpatient areas and outpatient areas based on identified priorities in collaboration with nursing leadership and other educators. This includes all aspects of care including surgery and medical management for primarily adult populations. Develops and coordinates a specific comprehensive plan for onboarding, orientation, competencies, and ongoing education that reflects and supports the organization's mission, values and strategic plan, national and state practice standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  1. *Primarily responsible for coordinating all activities related to the assigned clinical programs. Assists clinical staff to acquire, maintain, and/or expand unit-specific competence in clinical procedures, equipment operation, patient education, and/or documentation.

  2. *Exhibits specialized knowledge of the assigned specialty area. Performs formal needs assessments, gap analysis and collects other pertinent information to identify priority needs and outcomes. Plans and develops strategies to foster critical thinking and meets identified needs and desired outcomes.

  3. *Implements courses, tools, and resources to carry out strategic plans. Teaches and trains using principles of learning and effective methodologies.

  4. *Evaluates actual outcomes and program effectiveness in relation to desired outcomes.

  5. *Serves as a catalyst for change within organization by facilitating initiation of, adoption of, and adaptation to change.

  6. *Assumes formal/informal consultant role by assisting individuals and groups with input feedback solutions, and learning integration.

  7. *Exhibits leadership behaviors by supporting and collaborating with organization and administrative structures. Oversees resources to achieve departmental and organizational goals.

  8. *Utilizes evidence to support change and educates others toward a culture of evidence based practice.

  9. *Maintains n program documentation and records/files in accordance with organization policy and regulatory expectations.

Program-Specific Job Duties

Clinical Education

  1. *Orients clinical staff to appropriate scopes and standards.

  2. *Develops specialty competencies; develops and operationalizes plan to validate competence of staff.

  3. *Maintains integrity of Preceptor model and all Preceptor Program components.

Qualifications

  1. Current Montana RN license or a multi state compact license with authorization to practice nursing within the state of Montana; BSN preferred. Master’s degree in Nursing or related field preferred.

  2. Minimum of five (5) years’ of clinical nursing experience preferred.

  3. Minimum of three (3) years teaching and/or leadership experience preferred.

  4. Certification in related specialty and/or related program area, and/or Nursing Professional Development certification preferred.

  5. Must achieve and maintain certification in nationally recognized skills courses associated with position responsibilities (e.g. BLS) within six (6) months of hire.

  6. Possess exemplary communication, collaboration and customer service skills. Time management skills required to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

  7. Demonstrated success in consultation, leadership and the ability to serve as a catalyst for change.

  8. Possess ability to take initiative, exercise independent judgment, problem solve and make appropriate decisions in a timely fashion. Ability to work collaboratively with leadership, staff, patients, public and external agencies to achieve department and organization mission, goals and objectives.
