Logan Health RN Staff Development Educator - Oncology and Infusion in Kalispell, Montana

Job Description Summary:

This Staff Development Educator position is responsible for designing, implementing and providing oversight of the education needs of assigned units. Develops and coordinates a comprehensive education plan, which reflects and supports the Logan Health mission, values and strategic plan, national and state practice standards and regulatory recommendations.

Qualifications:

  • Current Montana RN license or a multi state compact license with authorization to practice nursing within the state of Montana; required.

  • Education by Program Specific areas:

  • BSN preferred.

  • Master’s degree in Nursing or related field preferred.

  • Experience by Program Specific areas:

  • Minimum of three (3) years' of Oncology nursing experience preferred.

  • Minimum of three (3) years teaching and/or leadership experience preferred.

  • Certification in related specialty and/or related program area, and/or Nursing Professional Development certification preferred.

  • Must achieve and maintain certification in nationally recognized skills courses associated with position responsibilities (e.g. BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, OCN) within six (6) months of hire.

  • Demonstrated success in consultation, leadership and the ability to serve as a catalyst for change.

  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.

  • Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.

  • Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.

Program-Specific Job Duties

Clinical Education Program

  • Orients clinical staff to appropriate scopes and standards.

  • Develops specialty competencies; develops and operationalizes plan to validate competence of staff.

  • Maintains integrity of Preceptor model and all Preceptor Program components

Oncology Nursing Development Program

  • Collaborates with Nursing Director of Oncology Clinical Development and leadership team for inpatient/outpatient oncology nursing adult/pediatric orientation, education and competency evaluation activities. This includes all aspects of cancer care including; radiation, surgery, medical, surgical, survivorship, symptom management, and end of life care.

  • Develops, delivers and tracks education and competencies based on oncology specific accreditations, standards, and quality metrics.

  • Maintains, advocates, and promotes attainment of oncology certifications, as well as involvement with national oncology nursing professional organizations.

Job Specific Duties:

  • Primarily responsible for coordinating all activities related to the assigned clinical programs. Assists clinical staff to acquire, maintain, and/or expand unit-specific competence in clinical procedures, equipment operation, patient education, and/or documentation.

  • Exhibits specialized knowledge of the assigned specialty area. Performs formal needs assessments, gap analysis and collects other pertinent information to identify priority needs and outcomes. Plans and develops strategies to foster critical thinking and meets identified needs and desired outcomes.

  • Implements courses, tools, and resources to carry out strategic plans. Teaches and trains using principles of learning and effective methodologies.

  • Evaluates actual outcomes and program effectiveness in relation to desired outcomes.

  • Serves as a catalyst for change within organization by facilitating initiation of, adoption of, and adaptation to change.

  • Assumes formal/informal consultant role by assisting individuals and groups with input feedback solutions, and learning integration.

  • Exhibits leadership behaviors by supporting and collaborating with organization and administrative structures. Oversees resources to achieve departmental and organizational goals.

  • Utilizes evidence to support change and educates others toward a culture of evidence-based practice.

  • Maintains n program documentation and records/files in accordance with organization policy and regulatory expectations.

    Maintains regular and consistent attendance as scheduled by department leadership.

Shift:

Day Shift - Variable Hours (United States of America)

Schedule Details:

Please know schedules and shifts are subject to change based on patient care and department/organizational needs.

Schedule: Typically scheduled 36 hours per week, but could work up to 40 hours a week.

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
