Kalispell Regional Healthcare RN – Triage in Kalispell, Montana

Overview

The RN - Tirage provides nursing triage and provider referral information to general public via telephone and/or in person. Assesses appropriate intervention utilizing nursing process and works in coordination with leadership to ensure the work is accomplished effectively.

Responsibilities

  1. *Develops, implements and coordinates individualized, goal directed, nursing care to patients through the use of the nursing process.

  2. *Provides nursing triage and physician referral services to callers using sound nursing assessment skills and following approved protocols.

  3. *Directs patient to next step in care based on outcomes of nursing assessment. These include, but may not be limited to; emergent care, urgent care, routine and same day appointments, follow-up and self-home care based.

  4. *Identifies, verbally evaluates, and reports identified reaction changes in the stated physical and mental conditions of patients

  5. *Maintains nursing standards of care and responds to changing workloads and patient conditions by: remaining calm, making objective assessments, prioritizing, and asking for assistance as appropriate.

  6. *Documents all encounters with patients seeking health advice according to organizational standards, while clearly demonstrating the nursing process.

  7. *Provides individual instruction to patients and families concerning health and medical needs.

  8. *Consistently problem solves issues affecting patient care.

  9. *Educates callers using principles of learning and effective methodologies.

  10. *Per assigned area: Oversees clinical and non-clinical team in daily operations to include, but may not be limited to; the practice of infection control procedures washing of hands, and donning and doffing appropriate PPE per department procedure and protocol.

Qualifications

  1. Current Montana RN license or a multi state compact license with authorization to practice nursing within the state of Montana; BSN degree preferred.

  2. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in similar position within a medical setting (eg, physician office, clinic, or hospital) required.

  3. Possess knowledge of professional nursing theory, medical terminology and principles of professional nursing practice to administer and evaluate patient care.

  4. Healthcare Provider (HCP) CPR and/or BLS certification required as dictated by each practice/service line.

  5. Understanding of the confidentiality laws that govern the provider-patient relationship, including but not limited to, HIPAA guidelines.

  6. Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.

  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.

  8. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy. Possess considerable knowledge of the behavior and needs of patients.
