Whitefish Credit Union Senior Internal Auditor in Kalispell, Montana
Position Title: Internal Auditor
Organizational Relationships: Reports functionally to the Supervisory Committeeand administratively to the CEO.
Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A
General Function: Performs financial and operational audits on all functions of the Whitefish Credit Union.
Develop and implement comprehensive internal, financial, operational and compliance audit programs for the Whitefish Credit Union.
Review internal controls within the Whitefish Credit Union at appropriate intervals to determine whether they are carrying out their intended functions in accordance with management instructions, policies and procedures.
Review the means of safeguarding assets and, as appropriate, verify the existence of such assets.
Evaluate and identify key areas of risk, and conduct internal audits in accordance with established standards and practices.
Maintain work papers sufficient to support findings, conclusions and recommendations.
Prepare and submit audit summary reports detailing findings and any recommended corrective measures to the Supervisory Committee and Senior Management; present these reports at Supervisory Committee and / or Senior Management meetings upon request.
Monitor and analyze developing trends and changes in audit field and regulatory compliance laws / rules / regulations, and advise management of the operational impact of such trends and changes. Facilitate implementation of regulatory changes as necessary.
Continue professional development through training and participation in professional organizations.
Travel to Branch offices as required.
Adhere to, and ensure staff adherence to, all Whitefish Credit Union policies and procedures.
Report to work on time and as scheduled.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Excellent analytical ability, and ability to conduct thorough research, interpret and understand laws and regulations, and provide workable recommendations and solutions to problems.
Ability to work with all levels of management and staff, industry regulators, external auditors and Members.
Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
Strong computer skills including spreadsheet and word processing.
Valid Montana driver’s license and good driving record, plus the ability to maintain insurability under Whitefish Credit Union’s vehicle insurance policy.
Required Education and Experience:
Three to five years minimum of Credit Union experience required.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance preferred.
Broad knowledge of Credit Union or other financial institution operating areas, functions, products and services, and the laws and regulations which apply to credit unions required.
Knowledge of loan standards and sufficient understanding to analyze the quality of loan decisions and related documentation (includes commercial and mortgage loans) required.
