State of Montana Temporary Maintenance Tech/Snowplow Driver 03027 in Lewistown, Montana
Department of Transportation is currently recruiting for temporary snowplow drivers with heavy equipment operation experience for winter road maintenance. This includes snow removal, cleaning the right of way, fixing guardrail, repairing fences, signs, and luminaires, traffic control and salt brine production. This temporary position is for Lewistown and is a Call-out position. The position will begin in November/December and ends in March/April depending on weather.

__Education, Trade Knowledge and Experience:
Requires knowledge of highway maintenance and equipment typically assigned to a section, including basic diesel/gasoline vehicle maintenance; one (1) year experience driving heavy truck and operating construction equipment; basic math and record keeping; and the ability to make estimates of materials needed.
Necessary Special Requirements:
A valid Montana Commercial Operators License (Class A, Type II) with endorsements for air brakes and tankers is required. Successful applicant must live or relocate within 30 road miles of the work headquarters and must have a telephone or be reasonably accessible to the section headquarters. Driver’s record will be verified. Successful applicants will be required to sign a release form which authorizes the Department to obtain the applicant’s permanent driving records. Compliance with Mont. Admin. R. 2.6.201, "State Vehicle Use," and MDT Policy # 3-0134, "Addendum to Risk Management and Tort Defense Division State Vehicle Use Policy" are conditions of employment. Successful candidate will be required to complete a pre-employment drug test with a negative result prior to the first day of work.
