The Park County Sheriff's Office is looking for two (2) new full-time team members interested in a career in law enforcement. Take pride in performing excellent public service to your community! Position primarily protects and serves the citizens of Park County and the State of Montana as a sworn peace officer. Position is also responsible for conducting public relations activities and participating in professional development opportunities. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must hold a current Montana Post Certification or other State equivalent --OR-- minimally must be pre-certified with the Montana Law Enforcement Testing Consortium prior to application being submitted. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Graduate of an accredited high school or the equivalent thereof; be of good moral character; never been convicted of a felony; agrees to be examined by a physician licensed to practice in the State of MT within 30 days immediately preceding the date of employment offer. Must submit to a psychological examination and be determined to be suitable and qualified for the position. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS: Valid MT Driver's license; MLEA certification (must obtain within 1 year of hiring date); valid and current POST Certification. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Able to efficiently operate a computer, have effective communication skills and good people skills. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: To enforce State, Federal and County laws and ordinances; candidate must pass written, oral, medical and psychological exams; to provide customer service and answer inquiries via phone, electronically or in person; to participate, conduct and manage search and rescue activities; patrols Park County; to serve warrants and civil papers; certifiable to use law enforcement weapons as required; to write reports, testify in court and conduct investigations; to assist the public; to assist any and all Law Enforcement agencies as needed; to perform other duties as may be assigned by the Sheriff; individual is required to be a member of the MPEA. HOURS/DAY: Full-time with varied days. WAGE $21.09/hr. per union contract, which includes a benefits package.
