AEM - HEAD START Cook in MILES CITY, Montana
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
- ServSafe Certification or ability to obtain within required timeframe
- Ability to meet ALL Montana Childcare Licensing Rules and Regulations for administrative and teaching staff
- Maintain a current 1st Aid and CPR certificate
- Valid Drivers License and ability to be listed on company insurance for use of personal vehicle for work related purposes
- Have personal vehicle and freedom to travel as required by Head Start duties and/or training
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in regard to staff and family information
- Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
- High school diploma or High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) preferred
- Experience in food service field including menu planning, food preparation and meal presentation preferred
- Experience in working cooperatively as part of a team preferred
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Prepare nutritious meals that take into consideration children's various cultures and individual nutritional needs
- Encourage family style meals in the classroom
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of management, employees, parents and others encountered in the course of work
- Prepare attractive, USDA-approved meals and snacks
- Keep the kitchen and food storage areas clean and sanitary according to Health Department ordinances
- Maintain adequate food stocks and kitchen supplies
- Understand and strictly adhere to health, safety, food handling and sanitation requirements before, during and after meal preparation
- Follow menu guidelines and adjust when necessary due to the availability of menu items or an individual child's needs
- Prepare assigned menu and participate in family-style meals with children, volunteers and staff
- Work in conjunction with the Site Supervisor and staff to monitor family style dining in classrooms and document as appropriate
- Maintain food service record-keeping and reporting as directed by supervisor
- Monitor and maintain proper temperatures of all refrigerators and freezers
- Maintain appropriate cleanliness of all kitchen materials and supplies as required
- Create menus that meet the nutritional needs of and accommodate the feeding requirements of each child, including children with special dietary needs and children with disabilities
- Maintain list and be aware of center food allergies and concerns
- Prepare alternate menu items as needed for the affected children
- Assist in delivery of food to classrooms and of dirty dishes from the classroom as needed
- Collaborate with classroom teams and parents to promote children's health and well-being
- Participate in staff meetings, conferences, training sessions and workshops as assigned
Full-time, seasonal position, working 40 hours per week. Will work eight hours a day, Monday - Friday, on days school is in session, August - May.
$14.62 per hour and up, depending on experience. Benefits include: paid vacation, sick leave, 401K and health insurance.
