Pay Range: $12.00 - $17.35, depending on experience

As an HIM Specialist you need to know how to:
Perform functions related to document imaging, chart retrieval pickup, reception and release of information for continuum of care duties
Analyze Release of Information (ROI) requests ensuring it is in compliance with company policy, and Federal (HIPAA) and state regulatory requirements
Retrieve records in response to requests for information while analyzing records for appropriate dates of service, verification of identity, and specific content requested. Ability to gather and analyze health information from EPIC and PACs/Radiology, etc; electronic, paper, microfilm, microfiche, scanned images
Support department activities such as answering the phone and providing customer service with patients, as well as a variety of other professionals regarding issues with records, expediting requests and help with procuring authorizations as well as managing any complaints or concerns
Demonstrate helpful and effective telephone etiquette and customer service skills by providing appropriate information to callers. Mitigate customer issues in stressful and escalating situations to a successful outcome
Manage inbound calls and provide timely turnaround of customer requests
Prepare and scan documents, ensuring correct patient identifiers. Forward unresolved issues for quality review
Perform quality control to ensure the electronic document/image posts to the correct patient's visit. Identify and correct/resolve errors identified by the quality control process. Escalate unresolved issues per procedure.
Perform release of information on continuum of care and patient requests, ensure compliance with guidelines/requirements related to patient confidentiality and release of information.

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of two (2) years of office experience and/or in an HIM department.
Intermediate knowledge of medical terminology and intermediate computer skills/experience.
Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).
HIM department experience.
