Hillside Health Care Center ACCOUNTANT / BILLING SPECIALIST in MISSOULA, Montana

A Missoula employer with a number of senior living facilities seeks a regional Accountant / Billing Specialist.The Billing Specialist is responsible and accountable for the accounting functions of all Medicaid billing and receivables in accordance with federal, state and local generally accepted accounting principles. The Billing Specialist provides assistance to residents and family members, facility personnel, employer, or third party administrators as requested or required to facilitate timely Medicaid application filing and accurate billing cycles, reporting schedules and cash flows. PERFORMANCE CRITERIA:1. Carries out all job duties following the established Regional Accounting Office policies and practices consistent with the mission and philosophy of the facility.2. Responsible for promoting a safe work environment.3. Demonstrates an attitude of collaboration, cooperation and collegiality by the use of excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills and a spirit of team play in order to assure high quality outcomes in all areas of responsibility.4. Maintains and promotes a strict level of confidentiality regarding residents and facility issues consistent with the Regional Accounting Office Policies and Resident rights.5. Attends and represents the Regional Accounting Office at meetings as designated.6. Responsible for timely, accurate recording of manual census information in Excel spreadsheets utilizing 24-hour shift reports, bed hold agreements, Medicare denial letters, C.O.I.s, and other documents.7. Responsible for all reporting of manual census information to the Regional Accounting Business Services Manager.8. Responsible for maintaining and updating subsidiary resident listings for special handling of statements.9. Responsible for posting census daily for assigned facilities into the computer and balancing to the manual census reports.10. Responsible for posting all ancillary charges for assigned facilities.11. Maintains assigned facility trust bank accounts and disburses funds in accordance with all state and federal regulations. Monitors and notifies responsible parties when funds are within $2000 of maximum levels in accordance with state and federal regulations. Refunds all trust accounts to the proper parties within 30 days of discharge.12. Completes all phases of balances and checks to close out month and begin statement process for assigned facilities by the last work day of the month.13. Responsible for compilation and organization of monthly packet information by the 10th of each month, six-month audit information and year-end reports and audit information associated with cash and assigned facilities by the recorded due dates.14. Responsible for working with families, facilities, interoffice staff, and outside organizations with all paperwork necessary for the Medicaid application process.15. Responsible for billing, posting of payments and adjustments, and assisting in the monitoring of the collection of accounts receivables for all Medicaid plans and all reporting associated with the assigned payer.16. Responsible for research and assisting the Business Services Manager in development of new procedures related to changes in laws and regulations associated with Medicaid. 17. Responsible for keeping the Business Services Manager informed of issues related to the smooth and efficient operation related to the Medicaid payer.18. Responsible for bank statement reconciliations.19. Responsible for office cleaning duties per the posted cleaning rotation.20. Responsible for backing staff positions and phone responsibilities as assigned.21.
