Missoula Family YMCA Director of Development and Outreach in Missoula, Montana

Job Title: Director of Development and Outreach
FLSA Status: full time, exempt
Wage: $50,000/year (or more depending on experience) plus incentive bonus structure
Hours: Monday-Friday; some evenings and weekends as required
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Probation: Subject to a 6-month introductory (probationary) period

POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Development and Outreach is responsible for all matters of development, fundraising, grant writing and sponsorship development as directed by the CEO and in support of Y departments. This position is responsible for the organization, execution and quality of Y development strategy and community outreach, and oversees all areas related to our donors and the general public. This individual must have the ability to (1) coach and inspire leadership team members and community volunteers and work collaboratively and inclusively with them to obtain superior fundraising effectiveness, (2) work collaboratively with Y marketing team to achieve maximum exposure and outreach for the Y fundraising and other outreach projects. Must be able to thrive in an environment with the unique challenges of a non-profit, community service organization and have the flexibility to work in a constantly changing environment. Works independently with general supervision.

• Promotes and represents the mission and core values of the Missoula Family YMCA
• Responsible for and oversees all development, sponsorship and grant opportunities and fundraising efforts at the Missoula Y
• Leads the Annual Support Campaign including recruitment, training and motivation of volunteer leadership, volunteer campaigners and staff engagement, as well as prospect assignment, marketing, donor acknowledgment and recognition, and all other events and activities related to the ASC.
• Leads fundraising activities and events in development department and other departments including: identification of key donors and prospects; building and maintaining relationships with individual donors; researching and applying for grants and sponsorships to support Y departments and programming
• Regularly communicates with foundations and donors regarding programs and activities which they have supported
• Is a member of the leadership team, participates in Missoula Y work including strategic planning and meetings; provides reports to Y leadership and committees as required
• Develops and maintains collaborative relationship with other community organization and businesses
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive, personal information and financial data
• Must be able to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with other staff members, leaders, volunteers, members, participants, parents and the general public

Required - Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college
Required - Must have current CPR or obtain within first 60 days of employment
Required - 2-3 years of related fundraising experience and/or training
Preferred - grant writing experience/knowledge
Preferred - current community volunteer
Preferred - non-profit experience
