Actalent Lab Technician in Missoula, Montana
The scope of this role is to provide a chemist or physical scientist capable of performing experimental design and testing on wildland fire chemicals. Some of the daily responsibilities will include:
Prepare test equipment and samples
Select and operate appropriate analytical instruments
Conduct scientific experiments on fire chemicals
Adhere to test protocols and procedures as outlined in specifications, standard test procedures, project study plans, and other written documents
Identify acceptable and unacceptable outcomes of test results
Use various computer programs for data collection, analyses and report writing
Provide strong attention to detail
Demonstrate strong writing and oral communication skills
Strict adherence to all lab safety rules and practices
This person will be working at the Missoula Technology and Development Center as a Scientist/Research Scientist. This will be in a federal lab setting, and research will be performed to ultimately enhance protection and advanced readiness for forest fires. This position is an immediate need, and the federal project will go on for 5 years.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
BS Degree (Chemistry preferred, but open to life sciences) + at a minimum academic research experience
Experience with following lab SOPs
Ability to lift 50 lbs, and spend extended periods of time standing or walking
Ability to pass federal security clearance
