Position Overview

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for executing industrial maintenance activities on the assigned shift. These duties include planned work and unplanned work utilizing precision tools, industrial fabrication equipment, and industrial materials. Other activities include special projects, responding to requests from other departments, training and coaching production associates, and participating in continuous improvement activities. The Maintenance Technician supports the site in consistently meeting or exceeding safety, quality, environmental, regulatory, financial, and product supply goals.

Essential Functions

General:

  • Supports PM systems for the Line, focusing on Maintenance Planning and Scheduling, Breakdown Elimination, and Anomaly Handling Daily Management Systems (DMS) primarily through execution of planned and unplanned maintenance activities.

  • Drives results in Planned and Unplanned Downtime, and supports improvement activities for the following KPIs:

  • PM completion %.

  • PM compliance %.

  • PM effectiveness %.

  • CMMS Data Integrity.

  • MTTR.

  • Cost/Asset.

  • Wrench Time.

  • Breakdown Loss %.

  • Breakdown Effectiveness %.

  • 5S audit score.

  • Spare Parts Inventory Accuracy %.

  • Spare Parts Inventory Value.

  • Participates in root cause (RCA) problem solving efforts on key chronic losses for the line/dept.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities through participation in focused improvement teams and opportunity identification during the course of standard work.

  • Participates in connection point and daily direction setting meetings for assigned area(s) to ensure that the appropriate information is communicated to oncoming shifts to maximize efficiency and minimize losses.

  • Attends and participates in the Maintenance Daily Meeting.

  • Supports the:

  • Spare Parts Management DMS.

  • Clean, Inspect, Lubricate (CIL) DMS.

  • Changeover (CO) DMS.

  • Centerline (CL) DMS.

  • Efficient planned stop execution.

  • Execution of Line 90-Day loss-elimination plans.

  • 5S activities.

  • Participates in the PM Revision strategy for the factory.

  • Provides feedback to the Technical Planner regarding effectiveness and quality of planned maintenance tasks.

  • Maintain, modify, and/or update equipment files, drawings, and any other relevant documentation.

  • Champions all safety initiatives.

  • Operates and Cleans equipment as necessary to meet Complete and On Time Delivery (COTD) targets.

  • Keep current with company and department policy, bulletins, etc.

  • Assist Managers and supervisors and be capable of assuming leadership role during crisis/emergency situations.

  • Member of facility First Responder Team.

    Internal Relationships:

  • Trains and coaches’ technicians and operators on maintenance, care, and operation of the equipment.

  • Maintains excellence in customer service by responding to all help requests in a timely manner and communicating in a professional manner.

  • In collaboration with the production, logistics, and quality departments, provide feedback on associate annual performance reviews (APR) and contribute to the data analysis and management of the Management by Objective (MBO) program.

    Qualifications

    Education/Experience:

    Minimum:

  • 5 years experience as a maintenance technician, millwright, or mechanic in an industrial manufacturing facility or a combination of equivalent industry and military experience.

  • Fabrication, machining and welding experience.

  • Knowledge of relevant codes:

  • ASME, NEC, NFPA.

    Preferred:

  • Experience operating within a formalized Continuous Improvement Environment (TPM, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma).

  • Military or post high school technical training in a relevant field.

  • ASME Certified Welder.

  • Licensed Electrician.

  • CADD experience.

  • Programming experience in AB Controllogix Platform.

  • IT or information network experience.

  • ASQ Certified Calibration Technician.

  • Ultrasound Technician Certification.

  • Infrared Thermography Certification.

  • Inventory Management experience.

  • Work experience in a GMP environment.

    Physical Requirements

    Working Conditions in the Office Setting (95%):

  • Primary functions require sufficient physical ability to work in an office setting and operate office equipment.

  • Factory Attire.

    Working Conditions on the Production Floor (5%):

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced light manufacturing environment.

  • PPE requirements: safety glasses, respiratory protection, company supplied lab coats, and gloves.

  • GMP gowning requirements: Hair net, beard guard (if applicable), shoe covers, and sweatbands as required.

    Physical Demands:

  • Frequent lifting / carrying (10-50 lbs.).

  • Frequent pushing / pulling (50-300 lbs) and frequent bending and stooping.

  • Frequent handling / gripping (parts, tools, etc.).
