Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Manager Recruitment PSD to our location in CA, or within our Providence footprint in WA, OR, MT, NM, TX and AK.

We are seeking a Manager Recruitment, Physician Services and Development (PSD) who will manage and participate in Physician, Medical Executive leadership, and Residency faculty and Program Director recruitment activities associated with a state wide region, in partnership with other Physician Services and Development leaders. The Manager also oversees and participates in all Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner recruitment activities associated with a state wide region. Leads and develops high performing staff who recruit for multiple physician and provider specialties, with a system-wide scope. Extends employment brand through recruitment of the highest quality, mission-inspired medical staff. Continually seeks to improve and deliver processes, outcomes, and customer evaluation of the Providence Physicians Services and Development experience.

In this position you will:

  • Manage development and recruitment functions of staff for all physician, executive physician leaders, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, and academic/faculty physician position within assigned regions. Measure performance and productivity, take action to improve results as needed, and provide recognition and support to staff.

  • Develop capabilities of recruitment and support staff, building on individual interests, skills, and competencies. With an eye on retention and succession, create environment of continuous learning, improvement, and development. Develop business plans and direct various projects related to physician recruitment, physician support services and operational excellence aligning with service line leaders and regional medical group teams throughout region.

  • Oversee and participate in negotiations of physician contracting, compensation, service and practice agreements, strategic planning and development of new clinical services, physician practice start up support, etc. Oversees development of physician recruitment infrastructure and leads planning, implementing and orchestrating physician recruitment activities for Providence Health and Services.

  • Shape recruitment philosophy and consult on physician development/recruitment plans throughout region. Responsible for strategic development of mechanisms to ensure a continual pipeline of high quality, excellent physicians joining employed medical groups. Maintain working knowledge of all Alaska, Oregon, Washington, Montana and California affiliated practice opportunities as well as awareness of critical needs pending. Work with Medical Staff offices, health plans and Board of Medical Examiners to cover critical practice start-up activities.

  • Assist with negotiations and physician contracts, maintain contract database, ensure contracts meet all applicable internal and external audit standards and are renewed as necessary. Prepares and adheres to budget for Physician Recruitment cost center(s). Ensure development of close ties to resident and fellowship training programs (particularly PH&S programs) as a recruitment source.

  • Work with senior leaders, physicians and others to articulate and implement physician retention strategies for Providence. Direct various projects related to physician recruitment, network and physician support services development and operational excellence. Work with the Executive Director of Physician Recruitment and Operations Administrator to define and prioritize recruitment objectives, develop tracking and reporting mechanisms and develop and maintain relationships with physicians and group administrators.

  • Develops and maintains physician retention strategies to include surveying physicians regarding the recruitment process and their experience at regular intervals during their first year of practice. Develop and maintain relationships with physicians and group administrators for region. Recruit, train, and manage recruitment staff as part of ongoing staffing strategy. Design and manage implementation of physician recruitment plans to ensure a continual pipeline of high quality, excellent trained physicians and providers for hospitals and clinics in assigned regions.

  • Effectively balance standardization and efficiency of operations with creative solutions to individual or collective hospital and clinic needs. Work with physician medical groups and Providence leadership to understand, calibrate and exceed expectations. Manage physician recruitment staff located across geographic regions; ensure cooperative, collaborative or team approaches are utilized as appropriate to accomplish objectives and provide a supportive work environment. Promote and exhibit sensitivity and respect for diverse cultural and religious beliefs and directly supports and advocates for hiring a diverse workforce.

  • Contribute to the development and monitoring of annual Physician Development and Services budget and all elements directly allocated to assigned functional groups. Assure integrity and consistency of physician recruitment systems, processes and policies, working closely with others to implement changes to practices as needed to meet organizational, regulatory, or legal requirements

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education/experience.

  • 5 years experience in physician recruitment including executive physician recruitment and hard to fill positions requiring deep sourcing.

  • 2 years manager-level experience in physician development/recruitment.

  • Active participation and/or membership in one or more physician recruitment special interest groups (e.g., ASPR, NAPR, etc.).

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master's Degree.

  • Project management experience.

  • Working with fraud, abuse and inurement laws.

  • Laws related to recruitment and employment, including immigration and private practice support relationships.

  • FASPR or other industry certification.
