Job Title: Youth Sports Instructor - Rookie Soccer
Status: part-time
Hours: 4:15-6:00pm, Monday & Wednesday
Dates: September 12 - October 4; additional hours/dates available if desired
Y Job Grade 1 Wage: $13.00/hr or doe
Reports to: Director of Youth Sports
Probation: Subject to a 12-month introductory (probationary) period
Youth Sports Instructors teach in Y-designed programs which entertain young children while providing a positive introduction to a sport or sports and to organized athletic instruction. The instructor will plan, organize and safely lead the children through classes with the goal of fun, non-competitive learning, working with limited supervision. Youth Sports Instructors should modely the Y core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility and must be able to thrive in an envirnoment with the unique challenges of a non-profit community service organization and have the flexibility to work in a constantly changing environment.

Lead individual and group activities to stimulate growth in language, social, and motor skills such as learning to listen to instructions, playing with others, and using play and sports equipment appropriately
Assist in planning and implementing the program including carrying out the weekly lesson plans that fit children’s needs and interests
Document attendance and incidents for program participants in compliance with YMCA requirements
Ensure children engaged and actively involved in program
Responsible for the health and safety of the children in the program, teach safe performance of skills, monitor children for proper stance and body positioning
Responsible for knowing the schedule and reporting for work on time
Adhere to YMCA child care practices and emergency procedures
Know, educate and enforce rules and policies to children and parents
Know the names of parents and children and make yourself known and available to them
Communicate facility needs and concerns to the Youth Sports Director, help maintain the cleanliness of Y facilities,
Communicate effectively with the Welcome Center and other YMCA employees to ensure smooth program function
Insure a safe environment for all members and non members using any part of the facility
Requirements
Experience in soccer and working with young children preferred.
