    Position Summary

  • The Echocardiographic Technologist/Sonographer coordinates and participates in a variety of duties involved in the operation and maintenance of cardiac graphic and ultrasound equipment to provide detailed analysis of cardiac and other body system functions in the Echocardiography and Sonography suite. Working closely with an interdisciplinary team of professionals, the Echocardiographic Technologist/Sonographer must have a passion for team work, customer service excellence and enjoy working with the public.

    Job Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Coordinate and participate in a variety of duties involved in the operation of echocardiography equipment to obtain and record two-dimensional and M-mode graphic representations of the heart utilizing high frequency sound waves to assist physician in the diagnosis of cardiac malfunctions, malformations and abnormalities.

  • Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures to include taking vital signs and measurements, positioning patients and explaining procedures; review medical histories of patients. Utilize Echocardiographic contrast as needed per protocol

  • Record Cine loops and still images per protocol to facilitate optimum diagnostic results

  • Provide a preliminary diagnostic report to physicians as needed and finalize preliminary data in the Cardiology PAC’s system for Cardiologist interpretation

  • Maintain accurate communication with physicians and staff to resolve problems and to advise concerning echocardiography results or equipment issues.

  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described.

    This position is scheduled for 30-35 hours per week.
