    SUMMARY

    The Environmental Services duties and functions are critical and essential elements for providing a clean, orderly, and organized environment for our patients, residents, employees, and the public. The incumbent will become familiar with the laundering and cleaning of all aspects of the facility and adhere to the Clark Fork Valley Hospitals (CFVH) mission, vision, and core values.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. The functions described here are representative of those the incumbent may encounter while performing duties. Specific area duties and checklist will be provided. Major duties may include but are not limited to:

    DUTIES

  • Collect soiled laundry from designated locations following proper infection control techniques.

  • Weighs and records laundry as directed and gives data to EVS manager on a regularly scheduled basis.

  • Sorts, launders, and folds patient/resident linen facility wide.

  • Regularly demonstrates productivity in job by meeting goals established and posted for the year.

  • Documents infection control expertise by completing reports on completion of tasks.

  • Clean assigned areas of responsibility, which may include patient rooms, exam rooms, clinic space, administrative areas, surgical areas, labs, waiting areas, and restrooms.

  • Understands and can demonstrate the use of various cleaning chemicals and disinfectants.

  • Understand and implement infection control techniques appropriate to Environmental Services.

  • Demonstrate and practice safe handling of garbage and biohazard clean up/disposal and transport it to designated location.

  • Attends and participates in departmental meetings and in-services.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
