Kalispell Regional Healthcare Advanced Practice Clinician – Polson Health Family Practice in Polson, Montana
The nurse practioner will provide diagnostic and therapeutic patient care under the supervision of a Family Practice physician. Patient care will be provided in clinic. Care will include performing history and physical examinations, developing a differential and working diagnosis, ordering laboratory and diagnostic studies and images, performing procedures within scope of practice, developing and ordering treatment plans; providing patient and family education, ordering of medications, and referring patients for specialty consultations as indicated.
Performs comprehensive assessment of patients in the clinic setting.
Integrate and interpret patient data to determine appropriate laboratory, imaging, and
diagnostic tests and procedures.
Compile and evaluate data to determine differential diagnosis, establish working diagnosis
and treatment plan.
Prescribe medications, including controlled substances.
Provide patient education regarding conditions, diagnosis, diagnostic procedures, mediations
and treatment options.
Provide documentation that follows clinic standards and justifies coding and charges.
Completes chart documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
Supervises medical assistants and provides feedback to Clinical Coordinator and/or Office
Ability to make independent decisions about patient care
Education and Experience
Must have been graduated from an accredited program, and have obtained national certification. Must be licensed in the State of Montana. Must maintain DEA certificate, CME for national certificate and current utilization plan.3-5 years of experience is required.
Knowledge: Demonstrate professional medical knowledge to evaluate, diagnose and provide patient care. Demonstrate knowledge of medical equipment, organizational policies, regulations, and procedures to administer patient care. Knowledge of computer software programs. Acquire knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Current CPR.
Customer relation skills including but not limited to: pleasant voice and demeanor, positive attitude and good communication skills. Maintains a neat/professional appearance.
Demonstrate skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of medicine to provide on-going patient care. Develop and maintain skills in taking medical histories, performing physical exams, interpreting findings, ordering and interpreting laboratory tests and imaging studies, diagnosing medical conditions, formulating and prescribing treatment plans. Prepare and maintain documentation records such as clinic notes, pre-operative physicals, and respond to incoming correspondence. Assist with developing and maintaining department quality assurance standards as necessary. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public. Must have the ability to maintain quality control standards. Demonstrate ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. Communicate clearly.
Supervising and/or attending physician will provide ongoing education and on the job training in laboratory and imaging interpretation clinical exam skills, diagnostic skills, procedural and surgical skills to ensure the professional development of skills whether this is actual education or maintaining availability to the employee to answer any and all questions that arise. Administration will provide adequate training on equipment, such as computer software, expected to be used to fulfill job duties.
