Kalispell Regional Healthcare CNA - Assisted Living/Marias Medical Center in Shelby, Montana

Responsibilities

Follows the assistance plan in providing services to residents, including

Activities of Daily Living Assistance (bathing, grooming, dressing, etc.)

Answers all call lights immediately.

  • Assists residents with bathing, hair care, mouth care and nail care. __

  • Assists residents with dressing including care of clothing and personal

Items. __

  • Assists and reminds residents for participation in activities such as

maintaining personal space neatly, contacting family members or

other individuals or agencies by phone or letter, and shopping. __

  • Assists residents with ambulation including reminding and supporting. __

  • Assists and encourages residents to eat and take sufficient fluids. __

  • Assists residents with toileting and personal hygiene, including

monitoring for incontinence. __

  • Takes and records vital signs, weight and height. __

Reads the communication book before the beginning of each shift, and

reads back to last shift worked. __

Give residents prescribed medication or remind them to take medication,

according to the assistance plan. __

Assist residents with oxygen, ostomies and other medical solutions according

to the assistance plan. __

Assists in the development and updating of assistance plans, in a timely manner. __

Do personal laundry for residents if so requested on the assistance plan.

Assists residents in labeling clothing. __

Strip and make residents’ beds weekly; launder residents’ linen and towels,

folds and return them to residents. __

Assist in serving meals and bussing tables at meal times. Takes mobility

assistive devices and places them away from the table areas. Return the

devices to the resident when he/she is ready to leave the dining room. __

Clean residents’ apartments on assigned days and as outlined in the

assistance plan. __

Cleans common areas as assigned and monitors these areas for additional

cleaning as needed. __

Encourage socialization among residents. __

Assists with and conducts activities as directed by supervisor. __

Encourage and/or remind residents to participate in activities. Promotes

activities enthusiastically to pique residents’ interest. __

Observes and reports physical and emotional changes in residents’ condition

to supervisor and co-workers. __

Documents information pertaining to changes in residents’ functional status,

emotional and personal needs, appointments, etc. Fills out resident incident

reports as necessary. __

Document all resident services provided daily. Update resident assistance plans

as needed every shift. __

Provides one-on-one support/visitation to assigned residents on a weekly

basis or as requested by supervisor or as specified in the assistance plan or

daily communication log. __

Responds to resident emergencies; provides first aide assistance and arranges

for appropriate medical attention/follow up, gives resident information packet to emergency personnel (far right kitchen cupboard). Performs CPR if necessary, according to resident advanced directive. __

Chaperones activities outside of the facility as requested. __

Provides transportation services, using the facility vehicle. __

Identifies supplies needed to perform tasks and reports needs to supervisor. __

Maintains an accurate record of chargeable services (transportation, cleaning,

personal laundry, guest meals, guest room use, etc.). Submits record to supervisor

by the designated date. __

Uses gait belt and back brace as required. __

Makes In-Home visits and provides care as assigned. __

Carries out all other duties as assigned as necessary to maintain quality

and continuity of services, safety of residents and security of premises.

Qualifications

Must be a Certified Nurse Aide with current certification in the State

of Montana. __

Genuinely interested in caring for older adults and working in the geriatric

nursing environment, experience preferred. __

Must have a valid Montana driver’s license, and be willing to drive the facility

vehicle to transport residents. __

Reads, writes and understands the English language. __

Identifies self when answering the telephone, responds to requests, correctly

receives information, and delivers messages in a courteous manner. __

Has the ability to learn basic computer skills for resident record keeping. __

Has the ability to use all appliances and machines necessary to complete

requirements of job description. __

Is flexible regarding work schedule due to emergencies and staff changes.
