Kalispell Regional Healthcare Compliance & Privacy Analyst, Outreach - Shelby MT in Shelby, Montana


The Compliance and Privacy Analyst oversees all ongoing activities related to the development, implementation and maintenance of Kalispell Regional Healthcare’s (KRH) outreach facilities’ compliance programs and privacy programs.


  1. *Exercises independent judgment and contributes to the achievement of the Corporate Compliance Department goals and objectives. Adheres to department policies, procedures, standards, and complies with governmental laws and regulations. Serves as a role model for others by exhibiting the KRH core values: integrity, compassion, service, excellence and ownership. Contributes to a supportive department culture by motivating and mentoring.

  2. *Exercises independent judgement and facilitates the implementation of an effective compliance program with outreach facilities. Functions as a mentor as needed.

  3. *In collaboration with the outreach facility representative, creates compliance work plans, audit plans and corrective action.

  5. Conducts compliance and privacy risk assessments and develops corrective action plans. Monitors progress with corrective action plans.

  6. Regularly conducts and/or attends compliance committee meetings.

  7. Assists in creating and maintaining compliance and privacy function databases and logs.

  8. Assists with drafting policies, procedures, processes, and workflows related to the comprehensive organizational compliance and patient privacy program.

  9. *Assists the outreach facilities in maintaining privacy policies and compliance with Federal and Montana state law as applicable.

  10. *Works in conjunction with the designated facility employee(s) to develop and maintain a comprehensive compliance and privacy program. Advises on privacy complaints from patients, employees and community members. Responds to hotline complaints, concerns, events, complaints and/or questions related to patient privacy and communicates with patients appropriately.

  11. *Assists the outreach compliance leadership with the documentation and preparation in submitting breaches to the Office of Civil Rights and submits reports accordingly.

  12. *Ensures the outreach facility has an overall plan for the development and implementation of education programs to support compliance and privacy regulatory requirements.

  13. *Attends meetings throughout the affiliate organizations when compliance and patient privacy advice is requested and/or required.

  14. *Regularly attends the Privacy and Information Security meetings. Develops and fosters relationships with KRH leaders, leaders from the affiliate organizations, and members of the team, to support open communication, trust, transparency and collaboration.

  15. *Remains abreast of regulatory trends in privacy, participates in continued education and seeks to network with privacy officers in like organizations. Exhibits professional ownership, self-development and a desire for life long learning.

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field required. Master’s preferred.

  2. Minimum of five (5) years’ Project Management experience, managing large, complex projects in a healthcare setting required.

  3. Minimum of five (5) years’ compliance and/or privacy work experience required. Possess in depth knowledge of the HIPAA Act and HITECH Act privacy rules and regulations.

  4. Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of health care reimbursement, including Medicare conditions of participation and Medicare conditions of payment. Possess knowledge of Critical Access Hospital Medicare and Medicaid rules and regulations.

  5. Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS) preferred, or must successfully obtain within one (1) year of hire. Possess ability to navigate, understand, interpret and remain abreast of state and federal rules and regulations regarding privacy and compliance.

  6. Possess and maintain computer skills to include advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed. Experience with compliance software and databases preferred.

  7. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.

  8. Experience in building and supporting strong team work and collaborative, respectful communication. Exhibits professionalism with the ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines and priorities. Possess ability to use good judgment, apply a high degree of integrity and maintain confidentiality at all times.
