The Special Education Aide job positions requires completion of at least two years of study at an institute of higher education preferred; an associate or higher degree; three to six months of experience working with special education students in a classroom setting is desirable; or any equivalent of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for the position.*As a condition of employment, applicant will submit to a fingerprint background investigation to determine if he or she has been convicted of certain criminal or drug offenses.*General knowledge of general concepts of child growth, development, and behavior characteristics.*Knowledge of special education goals and objectives.*Ability to work with individuals with speech, language, and or hearing difficulties.*Ability to articulate the English language clearly and precisely.*Learn and utilize basic methods and procedures to be followed in speech-language programs of assignment.*Demonstrate understanding, patient, warm, and receptive attitude toward children with special needs.*Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.*Maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, parents, and general public.*Ability to handle stressful situations.*Ability to maintain confidentiality of employment and student matters.*Ability to effectively manage time and responsibilities.
