COUNCIL ON AGING Part - time Head Cook - Thompson Falls in THOMPSON FALLS, Montana
Seeking Head Cook to prepare nutritious meals as prescribed by USDA guidelines, following the Basic Menu Plan to ensure that 1/3 of daily nutrient requirements are provided with each congregate meal.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Prepares monthly congregate meal menus in cooperation with Nutrition Planning Committee (consisting of Site Manager, Head Cook and one or two program participants). Prepares weekly congregate and meals utilizing standard cooking techniques (steaming, baking, roasting, etc.). Supervises Kitchen Assistant and kitchen volunteers. Shops for, or arranges shopping for, groceries and kitchen supplies required for the preparation of congregate and home delivered meals, utilizing a variety of sources including but not limited to local and regional food stores, food banks, and wholesale distributors. Keeps food inventory and insuring that the kitchen is stocked as necessary. Properly stores food, both fresh and left over. Insures that the kitchen area and equipment are kept within Health Department Sanitary guidelines, and that the kitchen passes random Health Department inspections. Keeps within the raw food budget as provided by the SCCOA Project Director. Serves congregate meals in a considerate and friendly manner, and showing compassion for the nutritional needs of the elderly and/or disabled.Mops kitchen floor at end of each congregate meal. Insures that all pots, pans, cooking utensils, appliances and food prep surfaces are left clean and stored in proper places after use. Maintains a variety of operational records including meal counts, inventories, and prepares tabulations and summaries as requested. Keeps accurate records of time worked and follows SCCOA policies and guidelines.
