There aretwoRecreation Technician positions, one works 32 hours per week (Wednesday throughSaturday) andthe other works24 hoursper week(Sunday- Tuesday).Daily shifts are8 hoursper day,witha 30-minutelunchbreak. Thereisapotentialtoliveonsiteintheapplicant'sownRVorcamper. Physicallaborisrequiredfor theRecreationTechnician position.Mustbeableto lift50lbs.andperformmoderate physical activityforextendedperiodsandstrenuousactivityforshortperiods.Mostworkisperformedinanoutside parkenvironment, possiblyinadverseweatherconditions.Thepositionmayrequiresometraveloutsidethepark property primarily for training purposes. This position requires an effective working knowledge of a wide variety of skills, including good customer service skills, problem-solving, accounting,computeroperationusing specializedreservationprogramsoftware,janitorial maintenance,andfirst aid/CPR/AED. CPR/AED andFirst Aid bydate ofemploymentis highly preferred. Must be ableto followwritten and verbal instructions.Must organizetasksefficiently, establish positiveworking relationshipswith co­ workersand management,work well with the public, and be able tocommunicateeffectively.Musthave the ability to understand and effectively explain Park,Parks Division, and Departmentpolicies and regulations tothe public, must be able toeffectivelydeal with angry or verbally abusive individuals who are dissatisfied with FWP policies and actions. Abilitytousetact,courtesy,poise,alertness,andgoodjudgmentinpubliccontacts.Mustpossessworkingknowledge,includingsitelocationandavailablerecreationalopportunitiesforpublicrecreationalsitesinthesurroundingarea. JobDuties: This position is responsible forproviding good customer service, fee collection, campground reservation system operations, and cleaning of park facilities. Performs recreation fee collection and campground reservation system operations. Closes and balances cash drawer daily. Contact visitors to provide park and tourist information, and fee payment procedures, and encourage positive use of park facilities following guidelines defined in Montana State Park's "Seasonal Employee Handbook." Conduct periodic campground rounds. Provide good customer service including answering questions and providing information on park rules and regulations to visitors. Provide emergency assistance and/ormedicalaid tothelevel of training.Monitorandassistwith traffic control and parking onhigh-usedays.Removes,transports, andproperly disposes oftrashanddebrisfromcampsites, buildings, andparkgrounds. Inspectandcleantoiletfacilities multipletimes perday.Works effectively as partofateam withotherstaff,volunteers, and parkrangers.Opportunitiestogaintrainingintrailmanagement,noxiousweedmanagement,interpretation,andother visitorservices.Otherdutiesasassigned. One year of college or vocational training experience in park and recreation management, interpretive visitor center, or closely related setting is preferred; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required at time of application: General knowledge of basic customer service and safe work habits. Ability to: educate and inform visitors on compliance with rules and regulations and State laws; collect fees and make change; sell merchandise and account for monies collected; read, maintain, and prepare records and reports; and assist visitors in emergency situations.
