State of Montana Weekend Housekeeping Lead in Warm Springs, Montana

Job Overview:This position serves as lead worker over custodians and reports to the Housekeeping Supervisor. The Housekeeping Lead (Weekend) serves as the lead worker monitoring and assisting with custodian duties to ensure patient rights to adequate and clean-living facility, linens, and clothing are being met. (/This Job Description only applies on Saturday/Sunday/) The Weekend Housekeeping Lead serves as a Custodian on weekdays (Job Description is available upon request). Housekeeping Lead (Weekend) 80% * · Delegates daily work assignments to custodians ensuring coverage of mandatory daily activities. · Coordinates activities of the custodians with maintenance and support staff indicating areas where repairs and/or assistance are required to properly complete assigned responsibilities. · Resolves problems, demonstrates proper work methods, and reports to supervisor on staff performance or need for additional training. · Monitors inventory levels, submitting supply orders as needed to supervisor for approval. · Performs custodian duties to include cleaning and disinfecting of all areas of the assigned areas. *B. *Documentation and Safety 10% * · Follows cleaning schedule and updates custodial logbook for supervisor to review. · Reports unusual patient behavior to nursing staff. · Maintains a log of current information on the safe handling of cleaning chemicals, hazards, and first aid procedures. · Restricts access to stored chemicals and supplies to prevent misuse by unauthorized personnel and residents. · Checks building areas for safety hazards such as broken glass and disposes of appropriately. C. *Other Duties as Assigned 10%* * Serves on Hospital committees as assigned. * Participates in, and provides for other staff, continuing education and training programs. * Assists with tasks and assignments provided. * Participates in team activities as directed. * Provides input and feedback to Housekeeping Supervisor as directed. * Performs other duties as directed. * * Schedule: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Thursday to Monday (Tue/Wed off) Physical and Environmental Demands:Must be able to work closely with patients. The incumbent makes regular visits to various work environments throughout the hospital including residences, and patient units which may subject the individual to unpredictable patient behaviors. The position requires standing, walking, and sitting to perform the essential duties. Must be willing to go to all on-campus patient care units. Must be willing to adjust working schedule to ensure coverage. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Potential exposure to hazardous chemicals, fumes, dirt, and dust. Potential risk for exposure to blood and bodily fluids, air borne diseases, HIV, Hepatitis, and Tuberculosis. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Required for the first day of work: * General knowledge of various regulatory requirements, janitorial procedures and operating of various pieces of cleaning equipment. * Strong working knowledge of CMS, Joint Task Force and Infection Control policies and procedures applicable to custodial/housekeeping operations. * Skilled in proper cleaning techniques. * Ability to plan, coordinate, and assign work to staff ensuring adequate coverage. * Ability to work cooperatively with others with a friendly “can do” attitude. Protect patient’s rights and confidentiality. * Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize work. * Skills in mentoring, assigning and reviewing work, and providing guidance to others. * Good oral and written communication skills. * Ability to react quickly and appropriately during emergency situations. Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience): * High School Diploma or equivalent. * 1 year of custodian experience. * Must have completed probationary period (internal candidates).
