Estimator position summary:
The role of the Estimator is to plan, execute, and finalize restoration and reconstruction projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes selling jobs, writing accurate estimates, creating a production package, (including contracts, draw schedules, preliminary production schedules, budgets, and material selections) and managing production so the jobs are completed profitably and in a timely manner. History of construction and disaster restoration cost estimating, logistics and disaster recovery required.Must be highly proficient in the use of Xactimate,(Xactware certification a plus) and must demonstrate mid-size and large loss examples of your work. Occasional travel may be required to travel to other locations in Montana for large loss opportunities.
Estimating and Sales Duties
Building customer rapport
Obtaining signed contracts that include draw schedules
Writing accurate estimates
Preparing and overseeing change orders and supplemental charges
Proper file documentation
Negotiation with adjusters, insurance consultants, and property managers
Organizational abilities - able to manage multiple, ongoing projects
Timely and complete communication with office
Completing estimates on time
Prepare accurate work-in-process (WIP) forecasts with percentage of completion methodology
Meet closing ratio goals
Manage receivables and collections in a timely fashion through frequent and advance communication, when applicable, file liens to protect receivables
Project Management Duties
Job budgeting and profitability forecasts
Timely job completion
Create in writing and effectively communicate a production schedule for every job
Locate and utilize subcontractors and initiate subcontractor agreements
Pre-planning jobs - materials, labor, etc. to meet expected profitability goals
Leadership Duties
Ability to positively motivate others
Perceived as a strong leader by the staff - influence by example
Provide valuable insight for improvements - as a manager in this company, you are expected to assist in solving problems and making this a more effective organization. To that end, you should be actively involved in finding new solutions to existing problems
The position is a key management position and a time demanding position wherein the candidate must demonstrate that they understand the requirements of the position, the time required to complete the required duties, and a willingness to be flexible and work the required time-sensitive projects such as crises management during demand peaks of company services (e.g., the aftermath of severe weather, natural disasters, fire, and accidents) that may be required from time to time.
