Delaware North Merchandise Manager, Senior Buyer for Yellowstone General Stores in West Yellowstone, Montana

The Opportunity

Delaware North Parks and Resorts is hiring a Merchandise Manager/Senior Buyer to oversee merchandise strategy and execute buy plans at Yellowstone General Stores in Montana. In this role, you will manage merchandise planning, product assortments and buying for a multimillion-dollar retail operation including twelve brick & mortar locations as well as ecommerce. This position serves as a link between the overarching Parks and Resorts Merchandise Strategy and the location specific guest experience. This role is a key member of a team determining vendors, programs and pricing for the Parks and Resorts division.

  • Set annual merchandise plans for Yellowstone General Stores, based on analysis and review of prior season, trends, new product development concepts and Brand elevation, vendor changes, store set evaluation and changes, and strategy set by Director of Merchandise and VP of Retail.

  • Works on subsidiary merchandise team led by VP of Retail on corporate retail merchandise planning and execution, including group buys, RFPs, cost negotiations and pricing strategy.

  • Responsible for creating merchandise plan per store and website, with input from site retail, GM and client, and in alignment with Parks merchandise strategy. Responsible for product plans to floor plan – with plan o gram details to be supported by retail store managers.

  • Responsible for giving needed guidance to Retail Planners as it relates to Yellowstone General Stores retail plans. This includes reviewing financial plans, monthly business levels and product placement. Responsibility may include direct management of a Retail Planners, including development.

  • Responsible for meeting Financial Targets including sales, inventory turn and margin. Includes management of markdown and promotions.

  • Working with Regional Controller and site management to obtain necessary monthly sales forecast and trend, creates and maintains an Open-to-Buy, sets annual OTB based on plan and inventory targets.

  • May support divisional or corporate projects related to Merchandising and Inventory Management.

  • Responsible for representing the National Park Brand and reviewing all product lines with the client. Products to support the National Park Merchandise Interpretive Plan and events of the location.

  • Responsible for timely issuance of all Purchase Orders as part of the overall seasonal calendar and dates established through vendor meetings and team meetings.

  • Support product training with Yellowstone General Stores retail associates.


  • Minimum 5 years’ retail buying experience, preferably including soft-lines and souvenirs or gifts.

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.

  • Strong organizational skills with an attention to detail.

  • A proven logical approach to problem-solving.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multi-functional teams.
